Bonnet and oil searches are among the most common motoring problems to be Googled in the UK, new data analysis has revealed.

Price comparison website Uswitch found that 19,200 people searched ‘how much oil does my car need’ in the last 12 months – making it the most searched for motoring issue of the year.

It was closely followed by motorists asking how to open the bonnet, which was searched 15,600 times.

Other common searches included ‘how to change the oil in your engine’, ‘how to change windscreen wipers’, ‘how to fix windscreen chips’ and ‘how to repair brake lights’.

Joel Kempson, car insurance expert at Uswitch, said: “It is important to conduct safety checks on your vehicle regularly.

“This includes the engine oil levels, the windscreen, windows and mirrors, and all lights.

“Failure to carry out these checks can result in fines of up to £2,500 and three penalty points on your driving license for driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition.”

Doubt it, be all the garages googling where these stupid manufacturers hide bonet realises and the catch.

Often want to choke the sh1t out of these people that design them.

The first bit between the owner and it’s heart you struggle to get past

SMMT and IMI should be forcing manufacturers to make pop on same side as steering wheel and catch on the bonnet in middle
