Claire Walton, who leased a brand new Fiat 500 electric car in March 2022, has been left frustrated after the vehicle needed a new battery within two years. The repairs are estimated to cost between £11,000 and £15,000.

Ms. Walton says she has faced communication issues with Fiat and Alexanders Motors (the garage repairing the car) and Santader the finance company. She has been left without her car for over two months and provided with a less desirable courtesy vehicle.

Fiat acknowledges the issue and states the new battery is on order from a supplier in Austria. The car manufacturer assures Ms. Walton that the repairs will be covered under warranty and a loan car will be provided during the repair process.

Fiat confirms they are supporting the repair and aim to minimise any further delays.

  1. I’m struggling to guess what vehicle could be ‘less desirable’ than a Fiat 500 ?. No disrespect is intended to Fiat.
