Porsche has issued a warning to some Taycan owners regarding a potential fire risk associated with a faulty battery module. The recall, affecting vehicles manufactured between October 2019 and February 2024, advises owners to limit charging to 80% and avoid charging the vehicle indoors or near buildings.
The letter, which was sent to affected owners, warns of a potential short circuit within the battery module. While the company emphasises that the risk of fire is low, it advises caution until the issue can be resolved.
The recall has also impacted some owners’ insurance coverage, with some insurers declining to renew policies. This has caused significant inconvenience for affected drivers.
Porsche has stated that all affected vehicles will receive an update to the battery diagnostic software to help prevent future issues. In the meantime, the company recommends that owners take their vehicles to a dealership every two months for inspections.
