Snows Car Centre, a prominent automotive dealership on the Isle of Wight, has announced the closure of its Newport branch on 5 February, 2025.
The decision, attributed to “difficult trading conditions in the automotive industry and a significant increase in running costs,” has prompted the company to offer assistance to its island-based customers.
To mitigate the impact of this closure, Snows is encouraging customers to utilise their Portsmouth dealership. The company has offered to contribute towards the travel costs associated with transporting vehicles to and from the mainland for servicing and repairs. Additionally, customers will receive a 20% discount on labour costs for future service or repair work at the Portsmouth branch.
“While we regret this decision,” stated Dianna MacKinnon, Head of Business at Snows, “we are committed to supporting our island customers and ensuring a smooth transition to our mainland dealerships.”
This closure follows the recent closure of a Blade Motorcycles dealership in Swindon, highlighting the ongoing challenges facing the automotive retail sector.
The closure of the Snows Isle of Wight branch serves as a reminder of the evolving landscape of the automotive industry and the need for businesses to adapt to changing market conditions.
