A 70-year-old taxi driver from Wellesbourne has had his licence revoked after continuing to operate a vehicle that had twice failed its MoT test. The vehicle, deemed unsafe due to significant defects, was used to transport passengers, including school children.
The Stratford District Council’s licensing panel expressed deep concern over the driver’s disregard for safety. Despite receiving warnings for previous licence breaches, the driver continued to operate the vehicle, covering over 1,300 miles.
In a separate incident, a 52-year-old Stratford taxi driver faced a 28-day suspension for dangerous driving behaviour. The driver was caught on CCTV double-parking and driving against the flow of traffic, endangering other road users. They also refused to take a fare without a valid excuse.
These incidents highlight the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and compliance with road safety regulations. Taxi drivers, in particular, have a responsibility to ensure the safety of their passengers.
