Warwickshire garage owner says new parking charges threaten his business

A Leamington garage owner has launched a petition calling for the return of business parking permits in Warwickshire.

Paul Horn, owner of T&H Motor Services, claims the withdrawal of annual permits by Warwickshire County Council has significantly impacted his business. He estimates the cost of covering parking charges for staff and customers could now exceed £67,000 per year.

On 30 July Mr. Horn launched a petition on Change.org urging the council to reconsider its decision. The petition highlights the challenges faced by small, independent garages following the removal of permits.

Key Points from the Petition:

  • Small garages are vital contributors to the local economy and community.
  • The withdrawal of permits creates a significant financial burden for businesses.
  • Increased parking costs threaten the survival of local garages.
  • Permits are essential to running a viable business without excessive expenses.

The petition concludes by urging the council to reinstate the permits and support the lifeblood of the local economy. The petition can be viewed and signed here: https://www.change.org/p/reinstate-business-parking-permits-for-small-independent-garages-in-warwickshire

  1. Can I just correct this article . We don’t expect the council to cover staff parking. This is something we organise ourselves. We just require permits to manage customer parking.
