A former car mechanic from Buckland Monachorum, West Devon, has won a £140,000 Ferrari in an online competition. Gerald Hallam, who previously worked on Ferrari vehicles, was stunned to receive the news from BOTB presenter Christian Williams during a surprise home visit.
Mr. Hallam, who entered the competition for just 89p, initially thought Mr. Williams had made a mistake. “I’m welling up,” he exclaimed. “I’ve never won anything before in my life.”
While excited by the prospect of owning a Ferrari 488 GTB, Mr. Hallam plans to take the cash alternative instead, stating that it would have a greater impact on his retirement.
Christian Williams commented on Mr. Hallam’s emotional reaction, highlighting the life-changing impact of the win.
BOTB, founded in 1999, has awarded over £82 million in prizes, including luxury cars, holidays, and cash.
