Halfords Autocentres has announced that customers currently signed up to any ‘brakes for life’ competitor initiative will be able to join its ‘Brakes4Life guarantee’ free of charge until October 29, 2021.

The guarantee grants motorists free replacement brake pads or brake shoes whenever they need them, for as long as they drive and unlike competitor schemes.

The offer is transferable to all future cars, saving the average driver £1,600 over their driving lifetime.

All customers who purchase a set of brake pads or shoes are eligible.

Chris Lunn, category manager at Halfords Autocentres, said: “Brake pads are among the most frequently replaced components on a car and our Brakes4Life scheme offers motorists peace of mind against unexpected costs.

“The scheme is available to all of our customers who purchase a set of brake pads or shoes, with all future sets being free forever – even if you change your car.”

To be eligible for the promotion, motorists need to arrange for a free ‘brake check’ at any Halfords Autocentre and be able to show proof they are signed up to a competitor scheme which provides free brake pad replacement.

Sounds awfully like desperation to me! Unless they have a huge list of “get out” clauses like “You’ve been using the brakes haven’t you Sir? I’m afraid that useage is not covered under the scheme.”

Every time it will need discs and/or drums obviously not covered by warranty as it says shoes and pads. While in the air it’ll need shocks, springs, ball joints and the exhaust is badly corroded and you lucky it hasn’t fallen off etc.
