Battery distributor makes donation to trainee mechanics at Bradford College

Platinum International invests in the future
Platinum International is an independent battery distributor in the UK.

Platinum International is helping out students through support of Bradford College.

“A Manchester-based battery firm is helping motor vehicle students in Bradford power through their training,” a release from the college stated.

“Platinum International, based in Trafford Park, have donated heavy duty car batteries to Bradford College in West Yorkshire.

“The batteries will be used by trainee motor mechanics at the college, which is one of the largest in the country.”

Philip McLoughlin of Bradford College thanked the company for its support, which he said will improve the learners’ experience when servicing vehicles and help prepare them for life in industry.

“We are extremely grateful to Platinum for their generosity,” he said.

“Having this means we can offer the learners within the department a more realistic work task and enhance their learning experience.

“The donation will also allow us to expand our links with industry and manufacturing of vehicle service parts in particular.”

‘Give back to the local community’

Mark Higson, marketing director, Platinum International, said: “It’s important to always give back to the local community and further educate them.

“As we want the continuity of the aftermarket to constantly flourish, we must always invest at the student level.”

The batteries will help learners to carry out light checks; because the cars that the learners practise on in the workshop are generally from scrap yards, the batteries often do not work, making light checks impossible.

The new Platinum batteries will be mounted on a trolley so they can be moved around the workshops and used on any vehicle.

As well as handing over the batteries free of charge, Platinum also invited staff from Bradford College to attend a training session where they can learn about the latest battery technology and, in turn, pass that onto students.
