Officers stopped a Toyota Celica in Norfolk at the weekend after they spotted a sofa dangerously hanging out of the boot while travelling along a busy main road.
The driver was given a traffic offence notice and may face more action.
The Norfolk and Suffolk Roads Policing Unit tweeted about it and said it made them do a “double take”.
“More suitable vehicle or straps would be a better bet,” the unit added.
#RCRT did a double take on #A140 today! A sofa in the back of a sport hatchback. More suitable vehicle or straps would be better bet! #845 pic.twitter.com/F4VvmkMVdd
