Lee Leonard, workshop manager at Raymond Smith Sales in Bedfordshire, was one of many garage technicians to pick up some technical know-how from the Gates stand at Automechanika in Birmingham.
The company took advantage of its appearance at the inaugural event to extend its PowerGrip timing belt kits range.
The range now includes timing belt kits with ABDS water pump for certain models where the water pumps are driven by accessory belt drive systems (ABDS) that are positioned immediately behind the timing belt drive or synchronous belt drive system (SBDS).
Key examples include the Ford Fiesta 1.2, as well as Ford Fiesta/Focus 1.4 and 1.6.
It’s a move that improves workshop efficiency by providing everything the drive system specialist needs in a single box.
Andrew Vaux of Gates said: “It also adds value for the customer by ensuring that the more complex SBDS will not have to be stripped down for a second time when the ABDS-driven water pump is due for replacement.”
