West Midlands Police have arrested two men following the discovery of a suspected chop shop in Birmingham.

Officers were called to a unit in Factory Road, Winson Green, on 7 July, where they found a stolen vehicle and a large quantity of stolen vehicle parts.

A 21-year-old man and a 48-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and remain in custody for questioning.

“This is a significant find, and our investigations are ongoing,” said PC Joseph Gigli of the West Midlands Police Vehicle Crime Team.

The police have emphasised that while many legitimate salvage yards operate in the area, there are also criminal operations known as chop shops. These often operate in industrial units, garages, or even residential properties.

The investigation into the seized parts and vehicle is ongoing.

  2. This sort of behaviour and illegal operation is what helps to contribute in keeping the automotive industry perceived by the public as an untrustworthy industry that is ready to ‘rip off’ people and it makes me so annoyed. The only way to get round it, is by regulating the industry and changing peoples perception.
