A mechanic on trial last week accused of causing serious injury to a customer who he took out for a test drive to demonstrate a new brake bias system, has been found not guilty.
Richard Masters, 57, is alleged to have lost control of a VW Golf while testing a brake bias system, causing the car to lock its rear wheels, spin and crash into a ditch. The passenger sustained a broken back.
Masters denied dangerous driving, claiming he was unaware of any issues with the braking system. The prosecution alleges that the braking system was incorrectly installed, with excessive braking force applied to the rear wheels.
The Crown Prosecution Service decided to officially offer no evidence. This came after the prosectuions expert witness, a police forensic collision investigator gave evidence.
And on 31 July the jury were asked to deliver a not guilty verdict by the judge.
