Barry Parker of BTE Automotive in Bordon Hampshire has spoken out about how his family-run business is responding to the coronavirus outbreak.

In a video statement recorded for GW, Barry explains the decision to close his workshop during the UK’s lockdown while adopting special measures for key workers and calls on the automotive industry to ‘do the right thing’.

Barry said: “As an essential business, we don’t have to close – we’ve been told we can stay open – but, in lieu of what could be and the uncertainty in the world, we didn’t want to take any risks.

“I don’t know how it’s going to affect our business moving forward, it’s difficult to say at this early stage.

What do you class as “doing the right thing” ?
If it is following you like lemmings and closing down the very next day without assessing everything then I think you are very arrogant !
You even say in your clip “I don’t know how it’s going to affect our business moving forward” – so you’ve closed your business down without knowing the impact it might have on you or your employees !!
