The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has deemed a new advert from Jaguar as “irresponsible”.
The advertorial, which ran in the Guardian, featured text on drivers using apps through built-in technology while driving their car.
According to the BBC, while the ASA acknowledged that hands-free mobiles are legal when driving, its judgement concluded: “The advertorial featured the headline claim that ‘drive time is no longer downtime’.
“We considered readers would interpret this to mean that drivers could now perform various other tasks while driving.”
A spokesman for Jaguar Land Rover told the BBC that it was “disappointed”.
“For all of the connected car technologies we offer our customers, we will always offer what is safe to do whilst driving,” he added.
