Motorists in Hertfordshire took to social media this week to express their confusion and disbelief after spotting a new mini roundabout has been painted with its arrows facing in the wrong direction.
The wrong markings appeared in Berkhamsted on a newly added roundabout earlier this week.
Once spotted, the error was fixed by Hertfordshire County Council’s contractor for highway maintenance.
Ringway, the contractor for highway maintenance in Hertfordshire, said that it rectified the problem at no cost to the council.

Kevin Carrol, Ringway divisional manager, working on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council, said: “We identified incorrect road markings in Lower King’s Road in Berkhamsted this morning.
“The work was carried out last night and we are sorry for this error.
“Our specialist road marking contractor has rectified the mistake this morning (Tuesday), at no cost to Hertfordshire County Council.
“We apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused to residents and roads users in the area this morning.”
