Independent hosts ladies night to empower women with basic maintenance knowledge
The popular evening event for women at Crescent Motors is in it's fourth year.

Crescent Motors in Burton hosted an evening in its workshop to help improve women’s confidence about basic car maintenance.

Crescent Motors managing director, Steve Tallett said: “It is a fact of life that a lot of women don’t seem to know about their cars.

“A lot of men are the same, but they won’t admit it.

“We want to tell people the reasons why they are handing over their hard-earned cash.

“This is a good thing, I think.

“How many women get the opportunity to be in a working garage environment?”

The ladies’ night, which is in its fourth year, split the women into two groups and were shown why it’s important to check for faults.

Empowering women

Lyndsey Watson, financial director at Crescent Motors, said the evenings aim to empower women with a basic knowledge of their cars while “giving something back to the community”.

“Going into a garage can be quite a daunting experience for some women because it is traditionally a very male-dominated environment,” she explained.

“If they were out and needed to change a tyre then we want to give them the confidence to do so, but it is mostly about the safety aspect.

“We wanted to teach them how to do the simple things that will keep them and their car safe.”
