Tyre fitting business under investigation after setting up in former corner shop

Police and council officials in Birmingham are investigating a new tyre fitting business following complaints from residents that cars were being jacked up on a city pavement, Birmingham Live has reported.

A number of locals took to social media to make their views known with pictures showing tyres staked up high inside the former shop premises.

Other pictures show numerous cars parked directly outside the shop, jacked up with tools scattered across the pavement.

One tweet read: “A local corner shop has converted to a tyre shop business, changing tyres on the pavement same time the compressor is placed outside on the pavement too.

“Is there any licence or planning permission for such work?

“Causing danger to pedestrians?”

Bordesley Green WMP responded to the tweet, which was posted on Friday, November 8: “Thanks for the tweet. Will take a look at it tomorrow.”

Birmingham City Council Customer Service said: “Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

“We will have this information forwarded on to the appropriate department to investigate.”

Classic secondhand tyre shop. Why are trading standards not checking it out?

I know this area very well. To be fair if the world was to have an enema this is where the pipe would go. Even so standards need to be maintained. We all know in our heads that tyre shops cant be set up like this.
