Footage this week showed the moment a car window closed on a Giraffe’s head at West Midlands Safari park, causing shards of glass to explode around the mammal’s head.
The safari park has confirmed that it has launched an investigation.
The video shows the passenger side window on the Vauxhall Corsa begin to close while the giraffe’s head is still in the car.
The window gets stuck against the animals cheek before shattering.
Park workers have confirmed that the giraffe, named Strider, “sustained no injuries” and was immediately checked over by staff.
Park rules read: “Do not allow animals to put their head inside your vehicle.
“Keep your windows half-shut.
“To stop feeding, turn your hand, drop the feed, and bring your hand back inside your vehicle.”
