When Ring introduced the MAGFLEX 1000, with its ribbon of incredibly flexible LEDs, it literally changed the way that workshops were lit.
To put the Super Flex to the test, we asked Will from Henrys Autos, based in Snedshill Telford, to use it, abuse it and see what it was like.

Will commented, “mounting the Super Flex is simple because it contains two magnets on each end, only one pair of which can hold the light. He continued; to provide more alternatives, the LED ribbon can easily be twisted 160 degrees inside the end blocks”. In addition to the 1,000 lumen maximum output, there are two eco modes.
Will also explained, “The Utility’s two elasticated straps and hooks on the underside of the bonnet make it ideal for lighting up areas or engine bays. However, because the light is difficult to manage when draped over objects like the suspension, care must be taken to prevent glare”.

“The flexibility is brilliant, as it can also be utilised as a wrap around product. On harder to reach areas and places where you really need to look closely, to have the ability to wrap it round your head really aids in these situations”.
There was however have a small complaint, “The USB A-C charge lead is short, and I would have liked a battery-state indicator, although one of the two power switches shows the charging state. The light lasted just over three hours at full power”.
Its rivals here may have the edge in certain areas, but with a price that’s less than £40, the versatile Super Flex is well worth considering”.
