Williams Garage, a historic garage in Otterbourne, has celebrated the grand opening of its new training facilities. Owner Pete Whieldon, with nearly 50 years of experience in the automotive industry, addressed friends, family, and business partners at the event.
Whieldon emphasised the importance of attracting new talent to the industry, highlighting the challenges in finding new recruits. The garage is actively working to address this issue by conducting over 400 training days per year.
Pete’s daughter-in-law, Kate, oversees the administrative side of the training academy. She explained that the garage has partnerships with organisations like the RMI Academy of Automotive Skills and LKQ to provide comprehensive training programs.
Whieldon expressed his pride in the new training facilities and their potential to contribute to the future of the automotive industry. He sees this as an opportunity to give back to the industry that has provided him with so much and to help the next generation of mechanics excel.
The new training facilities are a significant investment for Williams Garage, demonstrating its commitment to developing and nurturing talent within the automotive sector.
