Police in Telford have seized a silver car from Hill Crest Road in St Georges after discovering it had been untaxed since September 2019 and lacked a valid MOT certificate. The vehicle, found parked on the street, was impounded by West Mercia Police.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police confirmed the findings, stating, “The vehicle was checked by the police and found that it had no MOT and tax expired in September 2019.” The car has since been “seized and taken off the road.”
This incident highlights local authorities’ continued efforts to ensure vehicles on public roads comply with legal requirements. Driving or parking a vehicle without a current MOT certificate is illegal and can indicate potential safety risks. Similarly, vehicles operating without valid road tax are subject to immediate seizure and penalties for the owner.
The police action ensures that unroadworthy or illegally untaxed vehicles are removed from the community, contributing to overall road safety and adherence to regulations. This case serves as a reminder to vehicle owners to keep their documentation, including MOT certification and road tax, up to date to prevent similar enforcement action. Owners are encouraged to verify their vehicle’s status regularly to ensure compliance.
