Chris David, the 67-year-old owner of Corner Garage in Melplash, along the A3066 between Bridport and Beaminster, has expressed disappointment with Dorset Police following an incident that left two of his vehicles destroyed. Mr David arrived at his workshop to find car parts scattered across the road and the vehicles severely damaged.
He reported the incident to Dorset Police but states he has received no communication since. “Nobody has come forward and I haven’t heard a word from the police,” Mr David commented. “It makes me feel really angry, just to hear something would have meant something.”
The mechanic estimates approximately £4,000 worth of damage was caused to the vehicles, a blue Volvo V50 Estate and a Suzuki Vitara, both intended for sale. He has chosen not to claim on his insurance due to concerns about premium increases. Mr David claims the police’s only inquiry was for the name and address of the person who caused the damage.
When approached, a spokesperson for Dorset Police stated they could not find a relevant incident on their logs for the specified time, date, and location.
The incident is believed to have occurred between 10pm on Saturday, June 21, and 5am on Sunday, June 22, when a driver reportedly crashed into the Volvo, causing it to then impact the Suzuki. Mr David’s family has owned the garage since 1936, and he noted this is the first such incident in that time.
