A much-loved agricultural engineering shop, Lineholme Garage, has shut its doors after decades in the trade, leading to the sale of its entire treasure trove of tools, parts, and workshop kit in an online auction.
The closure is being described as “a sad loss to the farming and plant industry both locally and further afield,” by Dan Hey, Director at specialist asset advisory firm Walker Singleton, who is handling the disposal. Hey noted the company’s “lifetime of knowledge was irreplaceable.”
The firm, which was renowned as a go-to destination for farmers nationwide, has ceased trading, and its entire inventory of approximately 400 lots is being sold off. Hey framed the auction as “an exciting opportunity for farmers, plant operators and enthusiasts” to purchase equipment, parts, and tools that have been invested in and collected over decades.
The lots available include:
- Trade-counter stock: New parts, spares, and consumables, including PTO shafts, linkage parts, socket sets, and hand tools from quality brands like Snap-On, Bradbury, and Colchester.
- Classic tractor treasure: A stash of consumables and parts for vintage tractors, with David Brown body panels and engines among the standouts.
- Serious workshop machinery: Items such as crankshaft polishers and grinders, with some equipment noted as having never even been commissioned.
The online auction closes on 9 October, from 12 pm. All lots can be viewed online, and in-person viewings are available by appointment. The combination of trade stock and heavy workshop kit suggests there is something available for most budgets and needs.
