    Freedom of Information requests to over 400 councils revealed number of cars reported as abandoned has tripled since 2012, according to the Telegraph.

    Don’t believe this story at all.
    Over the last few years we have always been paid for scrap cars.
    Last week we got over 100 for a small car at our local metal recycling yard.

    If you’re getting £100 for a small car these days then you’re lucky!
    But, to be fair, we can still get them taken away (and properly certificated as scrapped) free of charge so there’s no excuse to dump them.
    One thing though, even if the number plates are removed why aren’t the owners being traced through the VIN and charged for the cost of the council removing them?
