Laser Tools launches VDE Insulated Torque Screwdriver Set

Laser Tools has introduced a new VDE Insulated Torque Screwdriver Set (part number 9167), specifically developed for use on electrified vehicles. The tool is designed to address two key requirements in automotive workshops: safe live working on high-voltage systems and applying the correct torque to electrical fastenings.

The torque screwdriver features a “slipper” mechanism, which prevents over-tightening by slipping at the pre-set torque. This protects fragile components such as terminals, crimps, and plastic housings from damage. The tool is fully insulated to IEC 60900 and VDE certified for safe use on live circuits up to 1000V AC or 1500V DC.

The set includes eight interchangeable, insulated adaptors: four slotted (3.0, 4.0, 5.5 and 6.5mm), two Phillips (Ph1, Ph2), and two Pozidriv (Pz1, Pz2).

The screwdriver has a torque range of 1.0–6.0 Nm, adjustable in 0.1 Nm increments. It comes with a factory calibration and a certificate of conformance to ISO 6789-1:2017, providing traceability for workshops.

Typical applications for the tool include low-torque electrical connections on battery packs, control modules, and sensor plugs, as well as interior and bodywork electrical connectors.

The manufacturer advises that the tool should only be used by trained personnel and that all vehicle manufacturer instructions and safety procedures must be followed. The Laser 9167 VDE Insulated Torque Screwdriver Set is now available from Laser Tools distributors and online retailers.
