IAAF to launch new three-tier membership platform for independent garages

The Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF) is introducing brand-new membership options designed specifically for independent garages, officially launching in January 2026.

This initiative responds to increased demand from garages across the UK seeking support from the IAAF. The new structured platform enables garages to benefit from the IAAF’s representation and resources, promoting greater dialogue throughout the supply chain.

There are three tiers of membership available: Registered member, accredited member, and leadership member.

The entry-level Registered member tier remains free of charge, granting access to the IAAF Training Academy, regular news, and inclusion on the IAAF website. Advanced paid memberships offer further benefits, including lobbying support, Motor Ombudsman accreditation, market insights, and the opportunity to join the newly created IAAF Garage Council—a group of 30 garages that will help shape industry policy.

Mark Field, IAAF Chief Executive, said: “Membership of IAAF will remain free at the point of entry. I believe that every garage should have access to an association. It is important that every business, garage and technician has their voice heard and work on the greater goal of raising standards. Our garage membership will be run by garages for garages and IAAF will work tirelessly to support all areas of their business.”

Tina Drayson, Operations Director at CCM Garages, added: “This new platform recognises the vital role garages play within the aftermarket and gives us the tools, knowledge, and collective influence to make a real difference. Whether it’s access to training, compliance guidance, or the ability to shape industry policy through the Garage Council, this is a game-changer for our sector.”
