IGA highlights how independent garages build customer trust

The Independent Garage Association (IGA) is encouraging garages to leverage their membership of the Trust My Garage (TMG) scheme to strengthen customer relationships. The IGA states that independent garages have long built trust through honest advice and high-quality service, and the TMG network provides a clear, visible sign of this commitment to consumers.

According to Jonathan Douglass, Director of the IGA, TMG members are committed to transparent communication, helping drivers make informed, safe, and cost-effective decisions about their vehicles. This is especially important as the cost of vehicle ownership rises and motorists seek value and reliability.

The TMG membership offers a dual benefit. For garages, it builds credibility and trust by aligning them with a recognised national consumer code of practice. It also provides increased visibility as part of a wider, respected network. For consumers, choosing a TMG garage offers peace of mind, assuring them of fair pricing, qualified technicians, and transparent advice without unnecessary upselling or jargon.

Douglass concludes that independent garages, particularly those under the TMG banner, play a “vital role” in helping motorists maintain roadworthy vehicles and reduce unexpected repair costs. The IGA is committed to supporting its members by championing high standards and fostering long-term relationships built on trust, transparency, and technical excellence.
