The Independent Garage Association (IGA) is this week encouraging independents to attract extra customer through its Trust My Garage website.

An IGA spokesperson said: “The Trust My Garage (TMG) acts as a badge of quality for the independent sector and the TMG website sees thousands of customers every month searching for their nearest trusted member, so make your garage stand out.

IGA members can log in to the TMG website using the same details as those used for the IGA website to update their contact details, garage description and add photos and ‘services offered’.

Members are encouraged to display their TMG sign prominently and ask customers to leave reviews on the TMG website.

The spokesperson added: “Unlike garage work provision companies, motorists can contact garages directly on the TMG website.

“From your garage profile page they can either call or email you, or use the ‘Request Estimate’ contact form.”

The TMG Code of Practice is Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) approved.

Each new member undergoes a site audit to make sure your systems and processes meet TMG’s high standards and that employees are properly trained.

Garages will also need to have access to the latest diagnostic equipment and technical information and be committed to providing excellent customer service.
