Classic Car Lab, a family-run classic car restoration business in Otley, has been selected to be the restoration team for a new TV series, ‘Bangers & Cash: Restoring Classics’. Produced by Yorkshire-based Air TV, the show will offer viewers an insight into the craftsmanship and personal stories behind each restoration.
Filming is already underway at the company’s specialist workshop in Otley Mills. The team is restoring a vehicle that was purchased from Mathewsons Auctions. While the specific car remains a secret, it is the first of several high-profile restorations planned for the series.
Amanda Kania, co-owner of the business, expressed her pride: “We’re a small, dedicated workshop based just outside Bradford, and now we get to show the country, and the world, what West Yorkshire can do.” She added that the show is “a spotlight on West Yorkshire ingenuity and spirit.”
Dino Kania, co-owner, highlighted a notable past project: an Aston Martin Lagonda. He explained that the car was restored using a new system developed in collaboration with a Canadian engineer, which he called a “game-changer.”
Dino also praised his staff, including programmer and web designer Andy, who has helped the company build a significant online following with over 200,000 views on their social media pages. He also commended general manager Adam O’ Conner, who he called an “artist,” and apprentice Wade, who he described as a “human sponge.”
The series will also feature the company’s sister business, Car Lab, which focuses on modern vehicle repairs.
