Autotech Training has announced a strategic partnership with TOPDON UK to deliver IMI-accredited Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) training nationwide, directly at the premises of garages and workshops. This initiative positions Autotech Training as one of the few UK providers capable of offering on-site IMI-accredited ADAS training, regardless of whether the business currently possesses ADAS equipment.
Previously, ADAS training was primarily conducted at Autotech Training’s headquarters in Milton Keynes or at garages already equipped with ADAS calibration equipment. Through this partnership, Autotech Training will utilise TOPDON UK’s Phoenix Mobile ADAS units, which are compact and mobile, enabling training delivery at almost any location.
The increasing prevalence of ADAS features in modern vehicles has highlighted a growing knowledge gap within the aftermarket, particularly the independent sector, regarding the correct servicing and calibration of these systems.
Alistair McCrindle, Operations Director of Autotech Training, emphasised the critical need to address this knowledge gap to ensure technicians have the necessary skills for correct ADAS calibration, thereby protecting the value of garages’ equipment investments.
This partnership offers a solution by bringing IMI-accredited expertise directly to businesses, eliminating the need for staff to travel to training centres or for garages to invest in ADAS equipment prior to training.
Beyond technician upskilling, the training also aims to equip them to educate motorists on the importance of ADAS. Research indicates that a significant proportion of UK drivers disable ADAS features due to misunderstanding, which undermines vehicle safety and creates challenges for workshops regarding recalibration.
Jack Davis, National Sales Director, TOPDON UK, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that it marks a significant step forward in making expert ADAS training more accessible and relevant, ultimately improving road safety.
Autotech Training offers IMI Accreditation in ADAS and IMI Levels 2 & 3 ADAS training. Further information is available by clicking here.
