DENSO highlights role of EMS

Original equipment (OE) component manufacturer DENSO, has released a new YouTube video explaining the engine management system (EMS). The video below provides an overview of the EMS, highlighting its role in ensuring optimal engine efficiency.

The EMS monitors and controls fuel, air, and combustion within the engine. It uses sensors and actuators that communicate with the vehicle’s electronic control unit (ECU) to manage the engine’s functions. The sensors monitor parameters like engine speed, airflow, throttle position, coolant temperature, and exhaust gases. Then, the ECU matches these against a set of values and controls the actuators to maintain optimal fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. If engine faults develop that the actuators can’t adjust, the EMS stores them as fault codes for technicians to diagnose and rectify in the workshop.

DENSO not only provides technical resources like this video but also supplies many of the replacement sensors and actuators needed to fix EMS faults. This video complements two recent leaflet additions, one for exhaust gas temperature sensors (EGTS) and another for mass air flow (MAF) sensors.
