New Eurorepar Car Service Head aims to bridge OEM-independent divide

The Eurorepar Car Service (ERCS) network has appointed Neil Gibbs as its new Head of Network. Gibbs brings extensive automotive industry experience from his previous role as Parts Operations Manager at Distrigo. His mission is to reinstate the value of ERCS to members and position the network as a crucial link between OEMs and independent workshops.

Gibbs believes in a collaborative future for the automotive sector, stating: “The ERCS message is that it needn’t be OEMs and franchises versus independents, but that we can all work together. That’s the point of ERCS and Distrigo, but the sector is still a long way from adopting this mindset, which is critical to the future.”

Recognising the challenges independent garages face, particularly with electrification, Gibbs highlights the need for them to meet the same service standards, marketing presence, and professional appearance as main dealers. He emphasised: “Training and resources are key to independent survival. But it’s tough for independent garage owners to take time out of the business. This is why the network is looking at how to make things like our training programmes more accessible…”

Gibbs also acknowledges the increasing importance of data in the modern automotive landscape, with ERCS committed to exploring ways to help the network leverage this information effectively. He aims to foster a stronger community within the network, connecting members with Distrigo hubs and Stellantis through social media, working groups, and dealer councils.

Under Gibbs’ leadership, ERCS will use enhanced OEM connections to provide members with superior technical support and more flexible training. The core objective is to ensure members can compete effectively while maintaining their independent status, reinforcing ERCS’s role as a bridge between independent workshops and the wider automotive industry.
