Laser Tools continues to expand its specialised equipment for Electric Vehicles (EVs) and hybrid vehicles with the introduction of its Insulated Trim & Cable Clip Lever (part number 9145). As the number of these vehicles on UK roads increases, independent garages require specific high-voltage tools and expertise for safe servicing.
EV and hybrid battery systems operate at voltages between 300 V DC and 800 V DC, which is well above the 60 V threshold considered “high-risk.” To ensure technician safety, hand tools must comply with IEC 60900:2018 insulation standards and be rated to CAT III 600 V or CAT IV 1000 V. Laser Tools has a history of supplying main dealer workshops with these specialist insulated tools and is now extending this offering to independent garages.
The new 270 mm plated-steel lever (9145) is specifically designed for use on BEVs and hybrid vehicles. It features a forked, insulated foot, allowing technicians to safely lift cable ties, cooling-pipe clips, and trim fasteners without compromising high-voltage safety.
Technicians are reminded to always wear full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working on or near live high-voltage systems. This new lever enables the safe and efficient removal of various clips and ties, reinforcing Laser Tools’ position as a supplier of EV-safe workshop equipment in the UK.
The Insulated Trim & Cable Clip Lever is now available from Laser Tools stockists and online retailers.
