Lucas Oil cars make promising start to F2 season

Both Lucas Oil sponsored cars were in the points when the F2 motor racing season roared back into life in Bahrain, last weekend.

Strong performances over two eventful races promised to deliver a far bigger Round 1 points total for the DAMS team, but late technical problems for both cars restricted the team’s final total to just five points.

Dan Morgan, director of sales and operations for Lucas Oil product (UK) said: “It was an encouraging first round, notable for a terrific charge through the Sprint Race field by Ayumu Iwasa (Japan) in the #17 car on Saturday.

“Bad luck meant it was only rewarded with one point, but his achievement was followed by a fine run in the Feature Race by Roy Nissany (Israel) to secure eighth place and four points on Sunday.

“Both cars were competitive, ran well and DAMS was very unlucky not to come away with a bigger points haul.”

Each F2 round involves a 45-minute Sprint Race, followed by a 60-minute Feature Race.

All cars are designed around the same chassis and powered by the same type of engine and specification.

They all use the same tyre brand.
