A new 496 cu in supercharged and fuel injected V8 monster engine has been fitted to a Lucas Oil-sponsored 1927 tin-bodied Model T Rear-Engine Roadster in preparation for a new world land speed record next month.

The attempt, by UK driver Geoff Stilwell and his team will be made in the United States at Bonneville Speed Week in Utah on the famous salt flats.

The engine will run on a 70% nitro-methanol mix and will generate around 5000 bhp.

The re-fit is designed to add power and increase safety levels.

Last year, the car reached a top speed of 265.626mph: the target is to exceed 300 mph this time around.

A range of Lucas Oil products will play key roles in the world record attempt.

These include assembly lube, racing gear oil (for the rear axle) and Lucas Racing 70 oil (for the engine) at the same time.

The Lucas Oil shield is associated with almost every kind of motorsport.

It can be seen at events around the world, from grass roots Moto X to track racing motorcycles, cars, dragsters and monster trucks.
