Simply Brands is encouraging workshops and factors to recognise the upselling potential of vehicle bulbs, a component that frequently fails regardless of the season. The company highlights that while bulbs may be considered a basic item, there are opportunities to increase sales and provide better customer service.
Six months ago, Simply Brands launched a new range of brighter bulbs, offering 100% and 200% brighter options as a key upgrade for customers. A prime example is the H4 200% BRIGHTER bulb, which provides a whiter light and features a quartz glass UV filter to protect headlight lenses. These new bulbs are also packaged in eco-friendly cardboard boxes, aligning with the company’s commitment to sustainability.
Simply Brands recommends that bulbs be replaced annually and in pairs as a matter of best practice. This helps to prevent a bulb failure on poorly lit roads and ensures consistent light performance. The company’s range includes 160 references, covering performance, auxiliary, LED, headlight, and fog light bulbs, all manufactured to original equipment (OE) specifications for reliability.
Sam Robinson, Business Development Manager at Simply Brands, states that bulbs are a “safety-critical component” and that factors and technicians should be using every customer conversation to provide “valuable information and guidance.” He also notes that for newer vehicles, where bulb replacement can be complex, garages have an opportunity to offer a new revenue stream by handling the fitment.
