A recent inspection at two second-hand car dealerships in Norfolk revealed that half of the vehicles examined were not road legal. Norfolk Trading Standards collaborated with officers from the Roads and Armed Policing Team for the checks this week.

Out of 10 cars inspected, five were found to be in an unroadworthy condition. Issues identified included the absence of a valid MOT, corrosion of bodywork, and window tinting exceeding legal limits.

A spokesperson for Norfolk County Council Trading Standards confirmed that inquiries with the businesses involved are ongoing.

Members of the public who suspect they have purchased a car from a rogue trader are advised to report it to the Citizens Advice helpline. Additionally, consumers can utilise the government website to verify a vehicle’s MOT and mileage history.
