MOT Expert, a UK independent MOT training provider based in Northampton, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary by aiming to raise £10,000 for Cancer Research UK. This fundraising effort holds personal significance for the company’s leadership.
On June 14, 2023, Ross Laurence, CEO of MOT Expert, was diagnosed with Stage 1 Colorectal Cancer. Following major surgery and recovery, Ross and the MOT Expert team have undertaken various challenges, already raising over £8,000 for the charity. Past efforts include Director Kyle completing three half marathons in three days, Ross finishing Race for Life 2024 in under 26 minutes, and COO Haider winning a White Collar Boxing match. For 2025, the team plans to participate in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life to exceed their £10,000 target.
Ross Laurence stated, “This anniversary means so much more than just business growth. I am celebrating two years cancer-free, a year in our new building and ten years in business, going from strength to strength with the help and support of my excellent team.” He added that his recovery motivated him to grow the business and contribute to the cause that aided him and others.
Founded in 2015, MOT Expert has expanded significantly, more than doubling its training centre size and extending services nationally into Wales and Scotland. Their team of MOT testers and former DVSA Vehicle Examiners (VEs) delivers over 1,500 qualifications annually. Last year’s relocation to a new Northampton site, featuring new Snap-On MOT bays, reinforced their commitment to MOT education and compliance standards.
In conjunction with their consultancy, MOT Compliance Group (MOTCG), the team conducts site audits and recently launched VTS Pro, an upgraded garage management software solution. This CRM integrates directly with the DVSA’s MTS platform, offering features like quality checks, site audits, MOT reconciliation, and a booking system, helping MOT centres maintain efficiency and DVSA compliance.
Ross added, “We’ve always aimed to offer more than just training. We pride ourselves on teaching high-quality training programmes within our new dedicated facility, designed to meet the ever-growing demand for more MOT testers in the UK motor trade.” The company is preparing for continued growth and community contributions over the next decade.
