Renault has issued a recall for several of its models due to a potential defect with the electronic parking brake system. The recall affects a number of vehicles built between April 2024 and January 2025, including the Austral, Captur, Megane E-Tech, Scenic E-Tech, and Rafale. Only around 100 cars in the UK are impacted, along with six Dacia Dusters.
According to the recall notice, the issue is caused by an incorrectly angled position sensor within the parking brake actuator. This fault can lead to the stopping pin being placed incorrectly, which may prevent the parking brake from properly engaging when the driver presses the P button, releases their seatbelt, or opens the driver’s door. This increases the risk of the vehicle rolling unexpectedly.
However, the Assisted Parking Brake (APB) system remains functional, meaning the car can still be immobilised.
