Schaeffler unveils Hereford distribution centre expansion

Schaeffler has increased the storage capacity of its UK warehouse by 50%, by adding a new split level extension covering 3200m2. The expanded facility will house Schaeffler’s familiar LuK, INA and FAG repair solutions, plus the latest range of high-tech Vitesco products.

The new extended warehouse was officially opened on Thursday October 23rd by Jens Schüler, member of the executive board and CEO of Schaeffler Vehicle Lifetime Solutions, plus Eduardo Sack, Senior Vice President of Logistics and SCM, with all Hereford employees attending the ribbon cutting event followed by a celebratory lunch.

Due to continued growth, and the ever-increasing number of products in Schaeffler’s portfolio, the Hereford site had been close to full capacity for some time, and needed this investment in its infrastructure to continue to improve its service to the aftermarket, including the agricultural and commercial vehicle sectors it also supports.

In addition to the warehouse expansion, a brand new purpose-built workshop training facility will also soon be created inside the extension, which is planned to be opened to students in 2026. The workshop will be used to provide IMI certified hands-on training across a range of subjects, delivered by Schaeffler’s team of REPXPERT professionals to Schaeffler and customer staff, REPXPERT members, and vehicle maintenance students and apprentices.

Schaeffler VLS UK Managing Director, Mark Dolloway, commented: “This has been a significant investment for Schaeffler, but a worthwhile one. The continued growth of the UK business, plus the expanding portfolio of products that we sell, meant that we needed to expand the warehouse to be able to continue to offer market leading support to our customers.

“The Hereford site has been an integral part of Schaeffler’s business for many years, so we’re thrilled that this investment will allow us to continue to provide our customers with the service and support they need in the years to come.”
