South Street Motors ARC Ltd, an independent accident repair centre based in Wellington, has been granted approval by the Volkswagen Group (VWG), bringing its total number of manufacturer approvals to 14. This latest approval covers VW cars and light commercials, Audi, Skoda, Seat, and Cupra.
The company is already an approved repairer for eight other manufacturers, including Mercedes, BMW, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Mazda, Kia, and Mini.
To gain VWG certification, a body shop must meet strict guidelines for collision repair, including the use of specialised equipment, diagnostics, training, and materials. South Street Motors invested significantly in new equipment and ensured its staff attended the required training courses to secure the approval.
Founded in 1977 by its current managing director, the family business is part of the SSM Group and employs 16 people. It serves customers across the entire South West region.
Managing director Jon a’Court-Wills commented on the achievement: “VWG approval is a great accolade for us.” He added, “These nominations aren’t easy to get, and in the case of the Volkswagen Group you have to be nominated by a top retailer. I am enormously proud of all our staff, who have helped us gain this prestigious approval.”
