We’ve just purchased a Snap-On/Sun 4 tonne baseless ramp which was sold to us for lifting the mk8 Transit vans. The distance between the box section and the sill is just over 30cm. We were sold the extra extensions and ‘U’ pads to lift them. You cannot get the U pads around the box section on the front and the fuel tank is in the way to get them around the box section on the NSR. we can’t use the normal pads as even stacking 3 extensions it’s not high enough. As the extensions aren’t that thick they also wobble A LOT when the vehicle is raised on them. There is also a lot of spring in the arms. In conclusion, when a transit is lifted on the ramp it wobbles and sways all over the place and you don’t feel safe under it. It barely hits the jacking points on a long wheel base Vivaro and doesn’t get them at all on a relay/boxer van (you also can’t use the u pads on that box section), not to mention the van springs up and down heavily when on the ramp. It also springs a lot with a Discovery on it. Does anyone know of a decent 4 tonne baseless 2 post lift that has adequate extensions for lifting a mk8 transit along with other vans?
