Tyres aged over ten-years fitted to front-steered axles of goods vehicles with a weight exceeding 3,500kg, buses, coaches and minibuses are now illega [See the full post at: Ten-year-old tyre ban takes effect]
if tyres aged over 10yrs old are prone to delamination because of corrosion ,how can the age of a remould be determined when all markings are buffed off and you only have the word of the remoulder as to thje age of the tyre , or are remoulds banned from the steer axle as well
I have said for 30 years we are a dumping ground for runner tyres in the uk.
With no quality checks on tyres for cars and vans it is obvious to any sensible person that you have no control of the integrity of these tyres and many Taxi drivers use them,
Its all about money not safety.
Agree with the 10 year rule would support it for cars, but think it should be on the tyre company’s to have use by date so it’s obvious to read for everyone ( not some code that people don’t understand ), thanks
