New line of chillers helps garages service electric and hybrid vehicles

Valeo increases range to support growing EV/Hybrid market

Valeo is launching a new range of chillers, a vital component in electric and hybrid vehicle (EV/HV) thermal management systems, to support independent garages taking on more EV/HV repair jobs.

With the demand for EV/HV repairs expected to rise, Valeo is helping garages prepare by providing them with access to essential parts. The first chiller in the range, compatible with the Volkswagen ID3, is available now. Additional references covering more VAG, Hyundai, and KIA models will follow in early 2025.

EV/HV thermal management systems play a crucial role in maintaining battery health and preventing overheating. Chillers regulate the coolant temperature before it reaches the battery, extending its lifespan. Regularly replacing the chiller is critical as coolant can degrade, and debris can block it, leading to performance issues.

“EV and hybrid battery repairs will be among the main growth areas for garages over the next few years,” said Andy. “Technicians within independent workshops are learning new skills to take on this burgeoning opportunity, but they need access to components too, such as the chiller. Valeo is listening to what garages are telling us and making sure they have the parts they need as the market evolves.”
