Matthew replaced the engine with a 13 kilowatt power pack.

Matthew Quitter has converted a classic 1098cc Morris Minor into an electric vehicle after he couldn’t afford to buy a new £30,000 electric car.

Instead, Matthew bought the Morris for £6,000 and spent £12,000 converting it.

Matthew said: “There are nine Prismatic Thunder Sky cells in the front and 16 in the back where the fuel tank used to be.

“I first became interested in electric cars 18 months ago, I was sick of sitting in traffic jams watching petrol cars chugging away.”

He now plans to convert more more classic cars at his garage, London Electric Cars.

  1. Wow! A split windscreen Moggy. Original engine would have been 803cc I think. How do I know – ‘cos I had this model as my first car 🙂
Maybe I’ll get retrofit electric propulsion on my new diesel car eventually. But hang on…… if I wait 60 years, I’ll be dead….. 🙁
