Cyber criminals posing as police officers are attempting to trick drivers into handing over their personal information, reports the Express.

Fraudulent emails, claiming to be from Greater Manchester Police, pose as warnings to drivers about speeding violations, going as far as to state that they are in possession of “photographic proof that the driver of motor vehicle failed to adhere with a speed limit at the date, time and location.”

Great Manchester Police have responded to the reports by tweeting advice: “Fixed penalty notice, please don’t click any links and delete.

“It’s a scam.

“We issue NIPs by post to DVLA registered address, not to emails.”
