The DVSA has published new guidance online for garage owners detailing how to close an MOT centre.
The step-by-step guide details the information owners will need to provide to the DVSA.
Only sole traders, a partner in a partnership with permission to make the request, the limited company director or someone authorised to act on behalf of the company can close an MOT centre, according to the guidance.

To notify closure, businesses should email [email protected] and with the trading name, intended closing date, MOT centre number and authorised examiner (AE) number.
Once the centre has closed, DVSA has said it will “refund any unused MOT slots and remove any roles assigned” to the centre from the MOT testing service.
