The Independent Garage Association (IGA) is urging the automotive industry to provide insights on apprenticeship opportunities within the sector.

The feedback gathered will be important in lobbying for increased support and resources from government agencies to promote apprentice recruitment and training within the automotive sector.

A skilled workforce is undeniably the lifeblood of any business, and the IGA recognises the vital role apprenticeships play in nurturing and sustaining the industry’s growth.

Stuart James, chief executive of the Independent Garage Association, said: “Investing in apprenticeships is essential for securing the future of our industry. The dedication and expertise of a skilled workforce are vital in meeting the ever-evolving demands of the automotive sector.

“We encourage all our members in the industry to share their perspectives, so together, we can create meaningful apprenticeship opportunities that will benefit businesses, apprentices, consumers and the sector as a whole.”

The focus is on identifying key factors that can open up greater apprenticeship opportunities across the sector. By better understanding these needs, the IGA can more effectively lobby for the support that will empower independent garages to take on more apprentices.

The IGA is inviting all industry members to take part in a short survey. This survey results will help create effective plans to develop a skilled workforce for the future.

The survey can be accessed online here. The IGA encourages industry members to take a few minutes to complete the short survey and help develop apprenticeships and employer support needed to provide those apprenticeships for the sector.
