Castrol has launched Castrol ON EV transmission fluids specifically for use by franchised and independent workshops certified to work on electrified vehicle (EV) powertrains.
Available in five-litre packs, the two new products – in D1 and D2 variants – suit a wide range of EVs, helping to extend the life of the drivetrain system and enable EVs to go further2 on a single charge.
The new product is a high performance and high efficiency fully synthetic fluid for transmissions paired with dry e-motors, offering high levels of gear and bearing protection.
Castrol ON EV transmission fluid is part of a broader family of advanced Castrol ON EV fluids.
The range also includes EV thermal fluids and EV greases that help with the mainstream adoption of EVs by helping EVs go further, charge faster and last longer.
“As greater volumes of electric vehicles enter the aftermarket, more OEMs have asked us to make an advanced EV transmission fluid available to their workshop partners, to support ongoing repair and maintenance activity,” comments Patrick Bauer – Castrol senior technologist PD driveline and EV fluids.
“While these fluids in some EVs are deemed ‘fill for life’, workshops need replacement product in the event of a repair, and there can also be a requirement to change the product early to safeguard protection in certain use cases.
“We have collaborated very closely with OEMs and Tier One suppliers to develop, test and deploy products to meet the required performance criteria.”
Two out of three of the world’s major car manufacturers now choose Castrol ON for their factory fill.
In addition to supporting businesses bringing production EVs to market, Castrol has worked with the Jaguar TCS Racing Formula E Team. This means that EV fluid technologies can be pushed and tested on the track before they reach the road.
Castrol aims to be a net zero brand by 2050 or sooner.
Castrol ON EV fluids are certified carbon neutral.
